MoCA asks states to give priority vaccination to people in aviation industry
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India has brought out guidelines for priority vaccination of all people employed in the aviation sector in the country. This is in continuation to the advisory by the Secretary, Civil Aviation to the States in the last week of April asking for priority vaccination for people associated with the civil aviation industry in the country.

As per the guidelines, the Airport Operators in coordination with the state governments or the private service providers (private hospitals) have to set up vaccination facilities in the airports itself following all guidelines by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and facilitate vaccination of all the staff on a priority basis.

All players in the sector including the airlines, airport operators and ground handling companies have been advised to cover their personnel under the vaccination programme. By setting up the facility in big airports, MoCA feels that it is easy to cover all the staff, including the contractual and casual, in the same priority.

The guidelines by MoCA also sets the priority list as the ATC staff first, followed by the crew of the airlines, both cockpit and cabin, and the mission critical and passenger facing staff thereafter.

Once the staff are vaccinated, in the second phase their family members can also be vaccinated using the special facility, the guidelines state.
